Theater Lore & History
Opened March 24, 1966 next to the indoor Fireweed Theatre off Seward Highway, the 650-car Sundowner was one of three drive-in theaters running simultaneously in Anchorage. It hosted a famous 1974 KISS concert at 11 PM in the midnight sun before closing December 31, 1978.
