Opened June 9, 1949 with Rita Hayworth in "Down to Earth," the Moonlite is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register (2007). The 454-car single-screen theater retains its original 65-foot screen tower and neon marquee, and reopened in July 2025 with a new 4K laser projector after extensive renovations.
