Theater Lore & History
The Holiday Drive-In opened in 1953 as a single-screen drive-in with a capacity of 1,200 cars. Owned by Daniel Bzovi (son of Andrew Bzovi, theater patriarch). Daniel's children — Danny, Diana, and Richard — all grew up working the drive-in, from tearing tickets and cleaning fields to running projectors. Danny became projectionist, manager, and co-owner with his father until 1981. The Holiday closed September 3, 1986. The Bzovi family also built the Harbor Theatre (1948) and the Ecorse Theater ("The Cracker Box") in nearby Ecorse, MI.
