Theater Lore & History
Originally called the Brandywine Drive-In, the Ellis was the first drive-in in the Wilmington area. Opened July 15, 1949 with Errol Flynn in "The Adventures of Robin Hood." Renamed Ellis Drive-In in 1955 when A.M. Ellis Theaters took over. Closed October 29, 1977.
