Theater Lore & History
The Cactus Drive-In opened March 24, 1951 at 1401 S. Alvernon Way with a 600-car capacity, operated by Wes Becker and Hugh Downs. It closed in 1976 and the site was immediately reborn as the De Anza Drive-In, which ran until 2009 before being demolished for a QuikTrip gas station.
