Theater Lore & History
The Bel-Air Drive-In opened August 25, 1950 as a single screen with 1,800-car capacity, showing Ann Sheridan in "Stella" and Donald O'Connor in "Curtain Call at Cactus Creek." Operated by Community Theatres, it featured a model train for kids to ride. Screen 2 opened in 1971, screen 3 in 1982, and screen 4 in 1983, growing to 3,000-car capacity. Closed August 21, 1986. Demolished and replaced by the Bel-Air Shopping Center.
